Registered!

"Congratulations Katie McGrath,
You have successfully registered for the The Long Island Half Marathon."  :D

Edited to add: This is race is May 1st (gives me plenty of time to prepare : )

I have no goals for this right now, my real sights are set for my summer triathlon(s), but I am excited nonethless!!!

Moving past 5ks (scared face)  Ehhh who am I kidding I'm still sticking with mostly  5ks, Sub 20 here I come!

Also I did go to the bike shop today,  I found them extremely unhelpful :/ .  I think I need to try a different bike shop even if it is farther away.  Although, I am leaning strongly towards the Felt ZW 95 , I can't lie I like pretty things and that bike is PRETTY.  I personally feel like having a bike that I LOVE (even if for superficial reasons, but really it is not a bad bike anyway)  will make me more confident and therefore more KICK-ASS!

That bike is prettyyyy! I am doing my first tri this summer too! I got a hybrid bike because it was just more affordable. Hopefully it works ok for me. Do you have a specific tri training plan yet?

OK my thoughts on your bike problem, I bet both bikes are good, but if you don't get the one you like you will always wonder, so go for it... and remember you can't take the money with you when you die.

With a sub 20 on the 5K, here you would be the 2nd woman overall (biiiigggg loots)!!!!
And now go to conquer Long Island, I am sure you will run a fast half.
Anyway you are looking for a new bike while I am giving away mine (a wonderful Bottecchia): after the motor-bike incident I am always scared and this is not a good condition to cycle.

Great job in registering. That is the first step in the race.

Where in LI? I used to live in NY and have some family out there on the island.

Hi! I just wanted to say that I began following your blog today! I am training for my first half marathon in February. Your blog is very inspiring! I am adding planks to my daily routine! My 1 1/2 year old thought it would be fun to sit on my back while I did them today. Double the workout!

Definitely head for adifferent bike shop if they are not helpful. No reason to support an LBS that doesn't care about its customers.

Bike fit is very important! And, as is true with most things in life, looks are not everything.

Hey there Lady,
Woo hoo!! Offically registered:) I wonder if you will get hooked on the half marathons like me!?! You are such a speed monster...I could see you getting hooked on the challenge of getting faster on the longer runs:)

Now watch, you will end up getting 1:50 or less on your first. I have been attempting to PR all year on my half...never happened...well not since May! Good luck with the training:)

That's really cool. Good luck!

I'm going to be biking from Toronto to Niagara Falls to raise money for cancer. Should be just as exciting!
